AMF Xtreme Bowling rolls onto PlayStation 2 with six play modes and nine different alleys. After creating a bowler and deciding on the ball's weight, color, and surface coating, players can enter a quick match, tournament, league, practice, or compete in other game formats. The action takes place from a third-person perspective positioned behind the bowler as players use a circular meter to initiate the swing and follow-through. The ball will then react according to such realistic parameters as lane oil patterns, spin, location, and power. Multiplayer support is also included for matches against friends and family members.
